Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral. It is made up of fibrous minerals. There are six kinds of asbestos, which are all composed of long/thin fibrous crystals (minerals). These fibrous crystals are microscopic. For more information:

- Attic and wall insulation - vermiculite
- Vinyl floor tiles/adhesives
- Ceiling tiles
- Roofing and siding
- Window caulking and/or glaze
- Textured paint and/or patching compounds
- Pipes, boilers, and duct insulation/thermal padding
- Plaster
- Ceramic tile
- Grout
